Care and Maintenance
Hardwood floors add value to your home and are a healthy choice for your loved ones and the environment. Whether you have installed a new wood floor or updated your existing floors with our refinishing service, we have found there are a few secrets to success when it's time to clean.
Follow these easy floor care tips and enjoy for years to come!
WOOD + WATER are NOT friends!!
BLUE TAPE - Painter's tape can remove the finish off your floors! We do not recommend protecting floors with blue tape on any newly finished floor.
USE FELT PADS - Always place felt pads under all furniture before moving. Scratches in the floor are caused by dragging object that are not protected and this is not easy to fix. Scratches are removed by re-sanding the entire space which is costly.
PETS- We love our animals but bowls should be kept off of the floors to protect floors from damage. Pet stains are also difficult to remove, please clean up immediately.
UP UP UP - Lift furniture when moving it. Scratches in the floor are caused by dragging and this is not easy to fix. Scratches are removed by re-sanding the entire space which is costly.
LADIES HEELS - Walking in high heels or pointed heels can cause small indentations in the floor.
CLOSE WINDOWS - Rain can damage floors. Please keep windows closed if raining.
NO HEAVY WATER APPLICATION- Please use damp cloth only.
CLEANING- We recommend cleaning your hardwood floors with Bona Hardwood Floor Cleaner. It is available at many retail stores or online. Only use products that state "can be used on wood floors."
